Mycena leucogala (Cooke) Sacc. syn. M. galopus var, leucogala syn. M. galopus var. nigra Rea Schwarzer Helmling Black Milking Bonnet. Cap 1–2cm across, bell-shaped, dark brown to almost black, deeply grooved from margin inwards. Stem 50–100 x 2–3mm, exuding a white latex when broken, concolorous with cap, with fine white down at base. Flesh very thin, greyish. Smell not distinctive. Gills adnate, grey. Cheilo- and pleurocystidia thin-walled, hyaline, fusoid. Spore print pale cream. Spores ellipsoid, amyloid, 11–13 x 5–6um. Habitat in mixed woods. Season autumn. Uncommon. Edible but not worthwhile -avoid. Found In Europe.
